Let's start the year right by talking about rights. Hmm.
11 videos were supposed to be shown last Sept. 21 at Robinsons Galleria’s Indie Cine, as part of the commemoration of Martial Law. This collection of films is collectively called "RIGHTS." The day before the screening, MTRCB gave it an X-rating, making it unfit for public screening.
“Scenes in this film are presented unfairly, one-sided and undermines the faith and confidence of the government and duly constituted authorities for public exhibition.” -MTRCB
Join Gang and Lourd as they talk to the filmmakers, Kiri Dalena, et al. And what their project is really about. What it is and what it's not.
But ---let's also not forget the crucial work of the MTRCB in regulating works. They are given the grave task of regulating our public screenings. Ang hirap n'on! Let's try to appreciate the role of this office and get to know them more so we can support them in their quest for balance.
Here is their mission-vision statement:
To the Public
The MTRCB, as a regulatory board, aims to afford the public exemplary exhibitions in movies and television with the purpose of encouraging production of globally-competitive movies/ exhibitions, which should be both entertaining and artistic, in order to raise the standard of art for the public.
To the Industry
The MTRCB, as a partner in the progress of the Movie and Television industry, strives to provide to the industry opportunites for improvement by implemeting regulations and guidelines acceptable to parties concerned thereby maintaining an atmosphere of partnership and cooperation between the government and the industry.
Both groups have the best intentions. Both groups --doing their jobs. What do you think? At least, let's ask the questions together.
Maybe we can figure it out eventually.
We've faxed and emailed an invitation to the MTRCB, let's hope they join us.
As of Dec 31 -- we've invited the filmmakers and they have confirmed. A faxed invitation letter was sent to the MTRCB. Let's hope they grace our show, too, for a more balanced view of this matter at hand. READ MORE ABOUT THE FILMS AND READ MORE ABOUT THE MTRCB

MY GOD NAWINDANG TALAGA AKO
as i watch does videos napanganga ako.Siguro nga hinde dapat tangalin sa list ung mga videos na ipapalabas in public kasi there's too much voilence on those videos.Pero we can blame those film maker na gumawa ng mga videos n un,dahil un talaga ang mga nangyayari dati at pati ngayon
MTRCB must understand the reason why maraming indie film makers/movies ngayon dahil gusto nila ipakita ang tunay na kulay ng pilipinas..not always the positive side of the country..
"ignorant to their duty & eager to please president bigmole"

Bakit may censorship? Para ba may masabing meron silang system? Sana yung mga na-ban or na-Rated X maging commercialized in the sense of selling to the public.
Isn't violence portrayed as wrongdoings in films making it as a deterrent in itself? waht use is censorship then?
Films are one form of communiction. Censorship should solely be about ensuring messages received and appreciated by the appropriate people.

Alin yung dapat ipakita sa TV? Ang tao pumapatay ng kapwa tao na imoral or taong gumagawa ng bata based sa science?
I don't get it. Those people behind MTRCB - who are they to impose their convictions to the rest of the population?
LOL! my 6-yr old nephew knows about time travel nung robots. He even knows about the birds and the bees.
Bakit dati na-ban yung Voltes V?
Yeah right, educate the people nalang imbis na gawin tayong tanga. Prevention is better than cure but immunity is better than prevention.
If Da Vinci code was rated ass R18 then why don't they just banned the book? Their reasons are hardcore stupidity at its best.
Hi, this is John of Cebu - is there a website where I can find films censored by the MTRCB?
Which country has the most loose censorship law?
Si Sam Milby dapat i-censor!
We support Indie films! Tuloy-tuloy lang!
We support Indie films!
Jinggoy Estrada in a movie and winning an award ... just laughable
Why are people so pathetically concerned about movies being censored, as if we don't have a whole lot of uncensored and trash films in the sidewalks.
For choosing which texts to read, you are also guilty of censorship.
The sharp pens of the censorship were used to put out the eyes of the press and other forms of expression, that the censorship cuts into the flesh of thinking and creative people and allows only bodies without hearts, submissive bodies which show no reaction, to pass on as healthy -that's to paraphrase Karl Marx's classic statement on censorship.
I think there's no more hope for these MTRCB people. You can quote me on this: They're a bunch of "SYCOPANTS"!
Nasan kayo MTRCB?
Somebody once said: Censorship, like charity, should begin at home, but unlike charity, it should end there.
Given the dark side of MTRCB what can we do?
God save the MTRCB
BAkit may censorship?
MTRCB is supposed to clarify films only, not censor any part of any film or the entirety of it. Plain and simple. MTRCB must be abolished.
Teka, ano yung censorship? di ko alam yun.
Let's teach the Filipinos with thought-provoking films man, not make-believe raps
Back to the Future diba time travel yun?
thank you rocked for the effort...
for the un ending passion to radiate truths to the world...
for caring.
you matter pare.
