July 20 on Rock Ed Radio>> YOUR BEER BRAIN AND THE BOUNCER'S BICEPS

Due to popular demand. The BOUNCERS are getting their very own episode. Join Rock Ed Radio as they get gig-safety wisdom from the experts. Rico Santiago, chief guy, big honcho, top kahuna of EVENTSEC will tell us what he knows about US! (and our behaviour during the big ass gigs.)

EVENTSEC prides itself in understanding the effects of alcohol on your brain. So yes, there is a science to their protecting you.

You always see them. Silently standing by the exit areas. They hardly smile at your drunken mug because they always mean business. And your safety is their foremost concern. Yes, the protection of life, health and property is what they are about-- not annoying brat wimps with male-hood issues. Although sometimes it looks that way. They will harm you only if you are harmful to the greater number presently partying in the same event as you are.
The gentle (large) men of EVENTSEC are professionally trained, they are organized, smart, they offer a tight defense against scums of the gig earth. They are kind and will always be polite by default. And only when you mess with them do they show their fangs. (and their cement block biceps, and then you know that your choice to misbehave wasn't a a smart move at all.)
Rock Ed Radio and NU107 will always salute the men who keep the safety on while allowing us to rock our adolescent heads off.
And Rock Ed will always thank BINALOT (huh?) because the security guys will always ask for extra rice during an event, and BINALOT always gives us extra rice. Haha. So there.

Anyway, maybe you have an opinion, a story, an anecdote regarding safety at a gig?

Have you ever felt unjustly handled by a bouncer during a concert? (think about it again, did you deserve it? If you insist no, then tell us about your experience.) What do you think of these large, sober men when they stand in your way and grunt, "dun ang exit." End of conversation because you will dutifully turn 45 degrees or towards the directions his jaw line points to....

I'm sure you have stories. So share.

We'll wait. Sunday @8! Basta safety first.

hello all, first let me introduce myself, I am rico and the owner of eventsec, and president and founder of professional bouncers association. I APOLOGISE TO EVERYONE FOR THE VERY LATE REPLY TO YOUR QUESTIONS. I will try to answer everyone's curiosity in one paragraph. OK here we go:there are some bouncers that think bouncers have the right to physically manhandle patron, ITS wrong, A well trained bouncer should be able to resolve a conflict in a non confrontational way. I trained my people to talk to the person, if you find a gun or knife on the person tell them to leave it with you or put it back in the car. to be a bouncer you need brains! of course size and weight helps and it makes your job easier. like any job being a bouncer can be a career, if it pays the bills why not. konyo kids get the same treatment as everyone else specially political kids, we just tell them if you brag that your from a rich family, or a powerful political clan then I guess a P500 peso cover charge shouldn't even scratch your wallet. Mad Doggs is a bike group, a lot of them are business men, some are president's and ceo of corporations. yes we have female bouncers, nope we have no problems with any band and we never had a fight with them. some of the bouncers do get offers from gay men, what ever they do on thier time is their business, as long as it does not affect my time. yes there were a few incidents where we were ambushed after the event, but we travel in large groups so we always outnumber our assailants.people under the influence of drugs are ejected from the venue, now if that person got drunk at our event then we will take care of that person so he will go home safely. if he got drunk at another place we simply just don't let him in. as a bouncer, we cannot be a fan, if I see that one of my people is a fan I remove them. we know some martial arts, if we encounter a guy who knows martial arts, I would like to see him use his martial arts against 5 bouncers. no expansion in davao for now. I was offered a few years ago to put up office there but not right now. bands aren't hard to monitor its their fans. most of my bouncers have a day job, some are doctors, physical therapists, dentists, nurses and I even have a few lawyers bouncing is just a side gig. security guards are trained to protect property, bodyguards go through a different route they protect lives. our natural high is seeing everyone having a good time without any disruptions. yes we have insurance,we inform people when they get in to keep their personal belongings safe. if everyone in the concert is drunk we just monitor the crowd closely so that no fights start, if they're drunk they're drunk, as long as they are having a good time, ok, if nature calls us to use the rest rooms we get someone to watch our post so we can relive ourselves. if we know that were working all day and all night we make sure we get enough rest the day before. now, if someone offers a 1 night stand, its up to the bouncer if he accepts, as long as its after the show on their own time. both categories are hard to watch and manage, kids with metallica shirts ae usually hard headed, while drunken manong's believe they are superman. hay naku what a job! but I love it! I hope I answered and satisfied everyone's curiosity. thank you for your questions, I'm putting up our website soon and there will be a spot for questions.. thank you again..
