Paranaque Representative Eduardo Zialciata is vocal about his stance opposing the RH Bill. He has given arguments in Congress (almost) on behalf of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. Taking a public stand for ones private beliefs is, usually, an admirable thing to do so we thought we'd grab this opportunity to let you hear his stand.
Antonio de Castro, SJ of the Loyola School of Theology will join us as well.
As someone who adheres to the Opus Dei teachings, Lucille Montes MD will join us, too.
We've heard most sides by now. Let's hear this one.
Open minded-ness is in order.
Then you decide from there.

I came from a very conservative Catholic univ. in QC. Though the school is strongly against the RH bill, it hasn't really pointed out the bill's outline. What are its weaknesses and benefits, if any?
I think that instead of pursuing the RH bill, the gov't nust first invest on proper sex education/ They should help the parents form the children's moral stand about the topic. At the end of the day, it's all about responsible parenthood, not contraception. That's the most effective solution even the mass can afford.
May I correct you? The make drive is not going down, it's just shifting towards the same sex! *gasp* hihi
Father, ayaw nyo po ba mag-congressman? Senator?
Hi Gang, The people you are speaking to are obviously rich at walang idea what it's like to be poor.
Wala po ba kayong nakikitang good points about the RH bill?
What an episode! A very significant topic yet too little time. I hope to hear more great episodes in the future. More power to Rock Ed!
Tama!
I know this is late but I feel compelled to still say it:
DAHIL SA RH BILL LUMABAS ANG KAGAGUHAN NG SIMBAHANG KATOLIKO!
Bakit?
There is a clear case of deception to mislead the public (for what reasons? All I can say is it isn't for anything spiritual). Coincidently, the poorer a catholic country is the more religious and numerous the Catholics are. La lang, just a coincidence.
There is nothing in the bill that says you can abort a child that has already been conceived. It only seeks to prevent conception when desired.
There is also the argument that tax money of Catholics will be used to fund this "sinful" activity. To this I say two things:
1.) The majority of Pinoys (even Catholics) approve of the contraception (e.g. condoms and pills). But I guess this means squat to the statists in the Catholic Church.
2.) The Catholic Church is currently the largest landholder in the Philippines. Land which they refuse to have CARPED. Even though we don't directly pay money to subsidize the Church's landholdings, we indirectly pay for it by lost opportunities to develop the land and the potential tax revenue. What about the non-Catholics that have to pay for your landholdings you hypocritical Philistines!?
In short, gago ang simbahang Katoliko. Maybe there are people willing to be castrated by the church and that's fine, but you cross the line when you force others to do the same.
If there is a lesson in this we should all realize that it is a myth/superstition to believe the Catholic church is somehow superior as a moral institution. A casual look at history would show that the Church is just as likely as any other human institution to be corrupted by material considerations.
