March 15 on Rock Ed Radio >> Especially Special Children


Let's talk to Dr. Art Libao, head honcho of PEDYA-KAMP - A non-stock, non-profit, non-governmental organization that caters a 10-day out-of-town SUMMER CAMP for special children (orphaned, streetchild, handicapped or disabled, mentally challenged). Numerous activities are prepared for the children, among these are: sagalahan, swimming, bisitang bahay, kite flying, mask making, bayanihan, city tour, puppetry, pedyalympics, alay ni ate't kuya, etc.

Volunteers of the organization comes from different colleges and universities like: UP, Ateneo, DLSU, EAC, St. Jude, PUP, PNU, PLM, PCU, St. Scho, St. Paul, among others. There are some professionals who also volunteers like teachers, social workers, gov't employees, etc. Every month, the volunteers also held outreach program, a.k.a. OPERASYON MAKIBATA, to different institutions and orphanages. (http://profiles.friendster.com/pedyakamp)

Good evening. Panno kung gusto ko magvolunteer? Sino po pwedeng tawagan, etc. Kailan po ang pedya camp.

Hi. I'm a SPED major from UP. We call children with M.R. as children with mental retardation, not mentally retarded, and street or abused children as AT RISK. They are also considered now as children with special needs.
